Beth Rogers savoured getting back on track after an injury-disrupted year.

College Jesus Entry year 2024 Course Natural Sciences Sport Cross Country/Athletics

The Jesus College student was able to compete in a full season of track racing for the first time, and the progress could be seen on the track.

Beth won an athletics Blue, and competed in the BUCS Championships, reaching the 1,500m semi-finals only a month after returning from a long injury lay-off.

She also knocked 10 seconds off her personal best, running 3min 31.06sec in the 1,500m at the BMC Grand Prix-World Athletics Challenger.

Beth said: “Throughout a frustrating year dealing with a reoccurring injury, the support I’ve received from UCAPP – particularly in the form of physio treatment and strength coaching – has been invaluable.

“It’s allowed me to return to running stronger than before and compete in a full season of track racing for the first time. I’m excited to see what I can achieve in the coming cross country season now that I’ve been able to consistently train injury free and build fitness back.”

Future goals and targets:

  • Remain injury free
  • Represent Great Britain at the European Cross Country Championships
  • Lower personal best in the 1,500m
  • Race more distances on the track
  • Win a medal at the Under-20 National Cross Country Championships
