The Jesus College student represented Cambridge University in the Rugby Union Varsity Match, scoring a try to help the Light Blues produce the biggest comeback in the event’s history.
Santos then went on to represent the USA men’s national rugby sevens’ team at the HSBC World Series in Singapore and Los Angeles.
After completing his studies, he returned to California as a resident athlete under contract with USA Rugby and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
“When I arrived at Cambridge, I set out to challenge myself both academically and athletically — UCAPP has been pivotal in that journey and has been a key part of my preparation for LA 2028,” said Ryan.
"Through bespoke one-on-one coaching with Josh Nye, I’ve not only maintained Olympic-level standards in strength and conditioning but also elevated my speed, agility, and overall athleticism.
“I am deeply grateful to UCAPP for enabling me to compete at the highest levels of international rugby while pursuing a world-class master’s degree.”
