The Homerton College student ran the Blues standard to receive his blazer, and was selected for the first team for the 100, 200m and relay.
It meant representing Cambridge in the 150th Varsity Match, having previously competed in the Transatlantic Series for the joint Cambridge and Oxford team against Yale and Harvard, and Penn and Cornell.
However, a torn hamstring led to an early end to the season. Samuel said: “The UCAPP programme has helped me progress technically a lot with my gym progress. I’ve gotten a lot stronger and way more explosive.
“I went from 7.4 to 7.0 in the 60m, without any speed training or running; these improvements came just from gym gains.”
