Jan Helmich added to an impressive, ever-growing haul of international medals during the 2025 para-rowing season.

The Trinity Hall student showed no sign of slowing down after a bronze medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
At the Rowing World Cup in Varese, alongside crew-mate Hermine Krumbein, they finished first in the Mixed PR3 Double Scull in what was then a world best time.
Jan and Hermine went on to earn a second gold, at the Rowing World Cup in Lucerne, and this race came after Jan had been named the Cambridge University Sports Person of the Year for 2025.
Jan said: “My rowing career and the UCAPP programme are deeply connected."
"Without the invaluable support, which in many ways matches or exceeds what is provided by the German Paralympic committee, I would not have been able to combine my studies and succeed on the international stage.
“It is one of the most significant contributors to my list of successes, including European Champs, World Champs, and Paralympics medals.”

Future goals and targets:
- Entry into sports politics
- Taking a break from the national rowing team
