Jenny Lin has relished being part of the UCAPP programme and the support it provides in nurturing a powerlifting pathway.

The Emmanuel College student was a member of Cambridge’s women’s powerlifting Blues team for their Varsity Match, and competed at the Powerlifting Britisih University Championships, both in the under-69kg junior category.

“I have met so many like-minded and highly-motivated athletes through the UCAPP programme, which has encouraged me to keep working hard towards my own goals in powerlifting,” said Jenny.

“My UCAPP Sports Centre membership has provided me with the facilities and equipment required for my training, and UCAPP access to physiotherapy has been so essential in putting down small niggles and injuries that I have picked up throughout the year.

“This was particularly important at the start of the year, when I was working through an injury that I had picked up in my prep for the European Championships in the Czech Republic in October.

“With access to UCAPP physio, I was able to recover quickly and begin training for the upcoming Cambridge University Qualifier competition in December.”

Future goals and targets:

  • Earn a podium place at BUCS next year, with a view to competing at University World or European Championships
  • Represent Team GB again on the international stage
  • Earn a full Blue, for which I need to add 20kg to my current total
