The highlight for the Fitzwilliam College student was claiming victory in the National Team Time Trial Championships, as well as being nominated for the Cambridge University Sportsperson of the Year award.

However, there were plenty of other accolades on the roll call, including first place in the Cycling Varsity Match, first place finishes in the BUCS 10-mile Time Trial and 25-mile Time Trial Championships, first place in the British European Duathlon and the British World Duathlon Championships qualifier races, and first place in the senior 25-mile Time Trial Championships, and first under-23 athlete home.

“It has been a privilege to be a part of UCAPP once again this year,” said Will.

“The support received has been outstanding. Regular strength and conditioning sessions, the ability to access physiotherapy sessions when needed and, of course, the UCAPP breakfast have been a fundamental part of my training as an athlete here at Cambridge.”

Future goals and targets:

  • Target threshold and Vo2 max power output for durations between 8 to 40 minutes
  • A power to weight ratio for at least 10 minutes of 7 watts per kg
  • Defending my BUCS titles in both the 10- and 25-mile Time Trial
  • Race a selection of national events, including the British National Time Trial Championships & 100-mile Time Trial championships
  • Go after the BUCS Team Time Trial with Cambridge
