College Wolfson Entry year 2021 Course Medicine Sport Modern Pentathlon

Tads Ciecierski-Holmes has broken new personal barriers across multiple sports.

The Wolfson College student qualified to represent GB at the European and World 3km Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) Championships, and also qualified to represent GB in the European and World Triathle Championships, in Turkey in November and South Africa in December.

Tads represented Cambridge in a number of competitions, including helping Cambridge to their fastest team time since 2014 in the Varsity Channel Relay swim, taking on the first leg from Dover.

He was part of the Open Water 3km Varsity Match-winning team, and was first in the modern pentathlon Varsity Match, second at the BUCS Championship, and ranked 11th in the UK based on three national ranking performances. It all helped him to win the Cambridge University Sports Club Personality of the Year award.

“Before this year, I thought I had reached the limit of what I could achieve as a university athlete having started as a novice in my sport at Cambridge,” said Tads.

“The UCAPP programme unlocked an extra level of performance that I did not know was possible. Consistent nutritionist and personal trainer support, along with a lot of hard work to step up my training, meant I reached my goals and instilled even more love for my sport in me.”

Future goals and targets:

  • My SMART goals for the year were to improve my Laser Run time to 11 minutes, run a sub-18 minute 5km, get my laser run shooting times under 60 seconds, and maintain my 200m swim times, in order to qualify for European and/or World Triathlon.
